Additional Measures for Improving the Disability Assessment System

By the decree of the President dated July 16, 2024, No. PP-257 “On Additional Measures for Improving the Disability Assessment System,” significant changes are provided for the central apparatus of the Ministry of Health through staffing units from organizations within the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These measures aim to enhance the quality of medical services provided and support individuals with disabilities, which is an important part of the state’s social policy.

In particular, a new position of advisor to the minister for coordinating the provision of medical services to individuals with disabilities will be introduced in the central apparatus of the Ministry. This will allow for more effective management of processes and ensure the integration of various services working in this area.

Additionally, a sector consisting of three staff units will be created, with responsibilities that include:

  • Coordination of measures for disability prevention;
  • Coordination of the process for directing individuals for medical and social expertise for the purpose of establishing disability;
  • Organization of professional development and coordination of the activities of medical commission doctors and family doctors;
  • Coordination of the digitalization process for sending medical documents by family doctors for examination in the Medical-Social Expert Commission (MSEC) and its integration with relevant information systems;
  • Coordination of the system for providing medical services to individuals with disabilities, including medical rehabilitation services.
